The Fellsman Dart | 1st time event |Trail/Fell race | Extreme Running | Ultramarathon
The Fellsman Dart - NEW FOR 2025 If 61 miles seems a little daunting but you still want to enjoy the iconic charm of the Fellsman just on a smaller (shorter) scale then why not try the Fellsman Dart? Still oozing challenge, charm and character, the Fellsman Dart takes entrants across some of the same stunning yet very challenging and remote rugged Yorkshire Dales fells and moorland but covers just half the distance of the main event. Climbing over 4,200 feet in its 30 mile path from Redshaw to Threshfield, this point-to-point route is serviced by 13 hilltop and roadside checkpoints. On both events, entrants’ navigational skills are tested alongside their physical and mental fitness; because of this, only fit and experienced runners / walkers should enter! Whilst traditionally a map and compass were used to navigate, GPX files on GPS devices are now acceptable for use as long as entrants carry a map and compass (and have the knowledge to use them) in case of emergency. These are not events to be undertaken lightly but the rewards, and sense of achievement on completion, are plentiful and make it well worth the effort! Both The Fellsman and The Fellsman Dart are organised by Keighley Scout Service Network and they remain staffed entirely by volunteers, many from Scouting. Fully serviced roadside checkpoints offering a wealth of hot and cold food and beverages; transport; accommodation; options to cater for special dietary requirements all ensure that entrants are well looked after whilst enjoying a fabulous day out in the Yorkshire Dales. The organisers take entrant safety extremely seriously; a stringent kit list is in place alongside live tracking and cut-offs around the route. Whilst GPS technology and modern updates have been introduced over the years, The Fellsman Events retain their iconic charm and uniqueness, and certainly won’t disappoint.
