CARLOS BARRAL A FONDO - EDICIÓN COMPLETA y RESTAURADA, con presentación de Joaquín Soler Serrano

CARLOS BARRAL IN DEPTH - October 30, 1976 - B/W - 49 minutes Carlos Barral, writer, poet, and editor, born in 1928, "a year of a stupendous Burgundy harvest," was interviewed in A FONDO after the publication of "Years of Penitence" (1975), the first volume of his memoirs, and while writing the second, "The Years Without Excuse" (1978): "I have a very particular memory, and the book is made of memories and forgetfulness." Better known for his work as an editor: "editing is a poison that creates addiction," than as an excellent poet "I am a poet, let's put it clearly, in short supply," he had a militant critical spirit: "I can be aristocratically irritating." As an editor, he was the creator of the Latin American boom, and his accurate foresight is now evident: "In Spain, at this time, the lack of interest in literature is total. The public wants ideological and political information that is, let's say, in step with the times. Not only is literature not read, it's not written. But at any moment, that need will rekindle, in a number of people who are destined for it." He died prematurely in 1989. PRESENTATION by JOAQUÍN SOLER SERRANO In 2001, Gonzalo Herralde made several presentations with Joaquín Soler Serrano on A FONDO programs, which would be his last professional appearance in front of the cameras. In this case, it was A FONDO with CARLOS BARRAL from 1976. The production was made possible thanks to a collaboration with RTVE for the International Thematic Channels, directed by JAVIER MARTÍN DOMINGUEZ.
