4K | Raised in China, hated by Japan: War orphans called 'welfare burden', identity crisis deepens
🇯🇵🇨🇳 Japan’s 30-Year Colonial Project & Its Human Legacy Since 1931, Japan carried out a premeditated 30-year colonial expansion into Northeast China. Around 300,000 Japanese farmers relocated to the region under government encouragement, seeking a “new life.” After Japan’s defeat in 1945, these settlers were abandoned—stranded in China, unaware of the truth, with no hope of return. Nearly 5,000 Japanese children, orphaned by the war, were adopted by Chinese families—growing up between two worlds, shaped by both nations’ histories. 📺 Eighty Years of Unhealed Wounds: A Documentary Though the war ended 80 years ago, its trauma continues to ripple across generations. This film traces the stories of Japan’s “left-behind orphans” and their descendants—individuals caught between identities, nations, and memories. The first generation is now aging, yet their children and grandchildren still struggle with belonging, rejected by a homeland that forgot them and bound to a history that defined them. “Am I Chinese? Not quite.Am I Japanese? Not really.”—Eight decades on, the question remains. __________________ ShanghaiEye focuses on producing top-quality contents. Nobody knows SHANGHAI better than us.
