Somewhere deep in our past is a memory of a strange place... a deep blue sky, floating islands, windmills suspended in mid-air, ancient stones, ruined buildings, and the constant refreshing breeze. In Sonic Adventure, it was called "Windy Valley." There were places like it in other video games and media... Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker, Prop Cycle, Owlboy, Castle in the Sky, Nausicaä. There are hot air balloons, rusty propeller-laiden flying fortresses, and magic stones that keep enormous rocks adrift. It leaves you with a sense of longing for that feeling of freedom, which only comes from flight. There is yet no name for this feeling, or aesthetic.
