Richard Tauber - The Rose of Tralee (1938)
Written by C. Spencer Mourant and Charles Glover, "The Rose of Tralee" is a nineteenth-century Irish ballad about a woman called Mary, who because of her beauty was called The Rose of Tralee. The Rose of Tralee International Festival had been inspired by the ballad. Although this song was famously sung by John McCormack, Richard Tauber gives a wonderful performance in a recording made on May 25, 1938.
