This is the story of C.W. Nicol (1940-2020), a native of Wales, who regenerates Japan's devastated forests. Having experienced nature in many parts of the world, including Arctic exploration and the creation of national parks in Ethiopia, Nicol came to Japan, fascinated by the country's rich biodiversity, with drifting ice to the north and coral reefs to the south. However, what he saw there were virgin forests being cut down one after another for economic reasons, and rivers being concreted away. After learning that Afan Algoad Forest in Wales had been revitalized by humans, Nicol decided to take on the challenge of creating forests to regenerate Japan's natural environment with his own hands.
