Have you ever heard of quelites de ayote (a type of squash) or chayote hearts? 🇨🇷🍂 In this video, we take a trip down memory lane to rediscover those flavors of yesteryear that filled our grandparents' kitchens in Costa Rica. We'll remember (and learn about) those plants, leaves, and tender shoots that once grew abundantly in the country's yards and fences, and which became some of the most delicious and nutritious picadillos in our traditional cuisine. Unfortunately, many of these traditions have been lost over time, but today we want to remember their cultural value, their history, and how they were prepared so simply and deliciously in our homes.
