QUEM É DOUM? VOCÊ CONHECE A HISTÓRIA DELE? UMBANDA - COSME DAMIAO E DOUM !! RECOMENDO

WHO IS DOUM? DO YOU KNOW HIS STORY? UMBANDA - COSME DAMIAO AND DOUM!! I RECOMMEND WHO IS DOUM? A beautiful story about Doum, the child who appears in the image between Cosme and Damião!!! HAPPY COSME AND DAMIÃO!!! HAPPY Doum!!! But; WHO IS DOUM? In September, Saints Cosme and Damião are celebrated, so it's important to say something about them. Saints Cosme and Damião are venerated as the patron saints of doctors and pharmacists, and because of their simplicity and innocence, they are also invoked as protectors of children. As with so many other saints, the lives of the twin saints are shrouded in legend mixed with real history. According to some sources: They were Arabs who lived in Sicily, on the shores of the Mediterranean, around the year 300. They practiced medicine and healed people and animals, never charging anything, which is why they were called anárgiros, meaning those who cannot be bought with money. The cult of the two brothers is very ancient, with records of them dating back to the 5th century, which report the existence, in certain churches, of a holy oil bearing their name, which had the power to cure illnesses and give children to barren women. A striking feature in Umbanda and Candomblé regarding the representations of Saint Cosmas and Saint Damian is that alongside the two Catholic saints appears a small child dressed like them. This child is called Doúm or Idowu, who personifies children up to seven years old, and is the protector of children in this age group. Among Umbanda followers, there is a belief that for every two twins born, a third will not incarnate in this world. But, although he doesn't appear physically, Doum is also venerated and respected as part of the Ibeji family, considered "the one who never came." Therefore, the myth of Doum also serves as a source of consolation when a child dies as a baby or while still in the womb. In these cases, the departure is understood as the return of one of these divine beings to the world they were unable to say goodbye to. But because they are considered child spirits, the Ibejis are often confused with the Erês, which are actually intermediary spirits, messengers. There is also a popular belief that Doum was the son of a servant in the family of the twins, Cosme and Damião, who died the day after the brothers' martyrdom, and was taken in by their beloved brothers. It is common in Cosme and Damião prints to include the figure of another child, representing Doum. The offerings made by Umbanda, which begin on September 27th and continue until October 12th (Children's Day), consist of placing sweets, guarana soda, blue candles (to honor boys), and pink candles for girls in a garden or park. *************************** ABOUT THE CHANNEL **************************** Umbanda - A religion that, with great humility, needs to be increasingly disseminated and promoted, reclaiming its origins, always respecting other opinions and religions.
