JR四国 予讃線新居浜駅 接近放送 （ちょおうさじゃ）

This is a major station in the Toyo region. Niihama City once prospered through mining, and the abandoned tracks of the Besshi Mine Railway (operated by Sumitomo Metal Mining), which transported ore and passengers until 1977, can be seen throughout the city. A connecting track was also laid from this station to the Mine Line, but it has now been converted into a walkway. The former Hadeba Station (the terminus on the mining side) is home to a tourist facility called "Minetopia Besshi," which preserves and exhibits railway remains such as the Utsuyoke Bridge and the Hadeba Ore Depot. The station consists of one single-platform, one track, and one island-platform, two tracks, both above ground. A freight station is located south of the station, and its handling volume is second only to Takamatsu Freight Terminal Station in Shikoku.
