“NGIELE-NGIELE…”What is the meaning of this poem (song)? Some Bakongo elders will say that, it is about instructing a child to obey his/her parents. Because of her disobedience, the girl was bitten by a snake. Other Mbuta-Za-Wantu(elders/os anciãos) say that the poem is about Kongo kingdom pride. Having read papa Ernesto Cordeiro Nzakundomba book: “Bakongo and Their Identity”(NKONGO YE KISI KONGO), I agree with the latter viewpoint.
