Advanced melody writing tips and techniques. We then explore essential and inessential notes in the light of the harmonic thinking. You will then be shown how to analyse the ideas contained within the given material so that these can be developed during the melody. Consideration is given to the balance between conjunct and disjunct movement, along with a consideration of the implications of tempo, style and period, plus writing idiomatically for a particular instrument.
