Backpacking Thailand | When Life Gives You Rain, Find A Bamboo Bungalow
This week began in Chumphon, waiting patiently as the rain swept through in steady tropical sheets. There was something grounding about the pause. An unplanned stillness before the next chapter. When the skies finally eased, we boarded a two hour bus to Ranong, where we spent the night resting and listening to the quiet hum of a port town on the edge of adventure. By morning, we made our way to the pier and crossed the water by ferry to the quiet shores of Ko Phayam, where time seemed to soften and stretch. For five nights, a humble bamboo bungalow became our sanctuary, open to the elements, wrapped in jungle sounds, and occasionally visited by curious monkeys swinging through the trees. And each evening, the sky performed its quiet masterpiece, molten gold dissolving into rose and violet as if the island itself was exhaling. It was simple, untamed, and beautifully unpolished.
