At 26, Adriana makes a life-changing decision: she wants a child-free life. She opts for sterilization. Is she too young for this decision? She hears this often. Her answer: "Your body, your choice." She talks to us about her experiences and considerations on the path to sterilization. From the difficult search for a doctor to the emotional and physical challenges that await her. For her, the decision not to have children is a conscious choice to shape her own life. The desire for children doesn't fit into her life plan; her future is meant to be child-free. For many people, like Adriana, the decision to be sterilized is not just about contraception, but a choice for personal freedom. Adriana will finally confront the fear of becoming unintentionally pregnant and bringing a child into the world that she doesn't want with sterilization. Anne travels to Stuttgart to meet Adriana and talk with her about the image of women and mothers in our society. Will she understand Adriana's decision to live a child-free life? In the early morning hours in Langenau, Adriana embarks on the final and decisive journey. A two-hour drive, a costly operation, and the hope of understanding. The procedure is performed by external doctors. We are present during the surgery and when Adriana awakens from the anesthesia. We learn how she feels when the decision is irrevocable. We also give you an insight into the different methods of sterilization and the associated risks, as well as the social perception of this procedure in Germany.
