The Battle of Vaslui, also known as the Battle of Podul Înalt, took place on January 10, 1475, near the city of Vaslui. It pitted the allied Christian forces of Moldavians, Hungarians, and Poles—led by Stephen the Great—against the Ottoman-Wallachian army commanded by Suleiman Pasha. Despite being heavily outnumbered, the Turks suffered a crushing defeat, losing a massive portion of their army according to chroniclers of the time. It was considered the greatest defeat of Islam by a Christian army, earning Stephen the Great the title of "Hero of Christendom".
