For Sale: Beautiful Yamaha YHR862 Double Horn in Yellow Brass
This horn can be purchased (free shipping to the continental USA!) at this link: https://www.boydsbrass.com/product-pa... This horn plays amazing! I played this horn for a couple of days because I enjoyed it so much! It plays with a lightness and ease that frankly can be hard to find in a horn, even the more expensive ones. The YHR862 is a modified Kruspe horn (see my video for an explanation on how this is not exactly identical to the Kruspe wrap) that was handmade in Yamaha's custom shop. This horn (SN 001175) was probably made in the early to mid 1980s (production of this model is generally said to be from 1982-1992). This horn is surprisingly lightweight. The valves are lightning fast, have near perfect compression, and are very comfortable to use. The horn has a fantastic response. The softs attacks on this horn are particularly easy, but the entire range of the horn is easy to use. All volumes and registers are beautiful and easy to play, from a soft ppp to a powerful fff, this horn can do it all very nicely! The slurs on this horn are also very smooth. There aren't any "clicky" notes, but at the same time it is very easy to slot notes in tune and to play the horn accurately. This horn really is a joy to play, and I believe someone will really enjoy playing this horn! There are a few minor dings through the horn and there has been some dent removal in the bell tail at some point - but this was clearly very well done and you only notice these things upon close observance with a knowledgeable eye. This horn comes with its original Yamaha hard case, which is in good used condition. All of the latches work perfectly. There are a few spots where there is some minor peeling of the outer covering of the case, but otherwise it is in excellent used condition and certainly works to protect the horn and still looks very nice.
