PUTIN'S WAR: "These pictures come from the Russian side!" – Kremlin claims to have foiled intelligence operation – "I have no proof for either side." The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) claims to have foiled a Ukrainian intelligence operation. According to the FSB, kamikaze drones were to attack airbases in mainland Russia. The targets were located in the Far East, the Urals, and southern Russia. The published images originate from the FSB. There is no evidence to support their authenticity or to confirm they were staged. Ruslan Leviev, a Kremlin-critical military expert with the Conflict Intelligence Team, believes the images are more likely to be realistic than fake. The planned operation may have resembled Operation Spiderweb. In that operation a year ago, Ukraine attacked Russian airbases with kamikaze drones smuggled into the country. According to Ukrainian sources, up to 40 Russian aircraft were destroyed in the attack. Independent experts estimate that up to 14 aircraft were involved. The targets included long-range bombers. Ukraine also regularly attacks targets in mainland Russia and occupied territories with long-range and medium-range drones.
