It's Hunter, and in today's video Tyler and I are reacting to something completely new for DBUG REACTS: Ayreon’s “The Day That The World Breaks Down” from The Source! Boy, was this an amazing concept! We were both completely drawn into the music, performances, storytelling, and everything happening throughout this massive production. After experiencing this, we genuinely cannot wait to hear more from Ayreon. Speaking for myself—Hunter—I absolutely loved the way Arjen Anthony Lucassen composed and assembled this song. It was spectacular hearing him explain why he chose certain instruments, why particular musical sections were placed where they were, and how every piece contributed to the overall experience. I was also amazed by how many talented and well-known artists he was able to bring together for this project. We immediately recognized Simone Simons from EPICA and Floor Jansen from Nightwish because of our previous reactions to both bands. Tyler recognized several of the other names as well, but many of the performers were completely new to me. After hearing what everyone brought to this song, I definitely want to learn more about these artists and explore more of Arjen Anthony Lucassen’s work.
