Have you ever wondered how handmade businesses make enough inventory for an art show? In this video, I'm making 10 of my Aberdeen Tote Bags, one of my most popular designs. It takes me around five hours to make a single bag, so getting ready for market season means a lot of planning, repetition, and finding little ways to work smarter instead of harder. Easier said, than done, I know. I spend more time in this vlog talking through my process and why I do things the way I do, rather than just showing sewing clips. Batch sewing wasn't something that came naturally to me and figuring out a workflow that works has been a lot of trial and error. Progress can feel painfully slow... and then suddenly it's like, "bam," a whole stack of finished bags is sitting in front of you. Happy dance time! The funny part? I never thought I would actually sell all of these at one market. I only ended up bringing seven because I ran out of materials and couldn't get more in time for the show. Thankfully, I had three finished bags waiting at home because every single one sold, and they ended up saving me for my next market two weeks later.
