Manorama HORTUS 2025 brought together writers, artists, thinkers, humanitarians, politicians, sportspersons, entertainers and audiences from across borders for a four-day celebration of literature and the arts. The festival unfolded through conversations, readings, performances, exhibitions, workshops, and creative exchanges that flowed across disciplines. Rooted in the spirit of inquiry, HORTUS takes its name from Hortus Malabaricus, the 17th-century botanical compendium that mapped the flora of the Malabar coast. After its debut in Kozhikode—Kerala’s first UNESCO City of Literature—HORTUS arrived in Kochi in 2025, a city shaped by water, trade, and cultural dialogue. From November 27 to 30, the festival animated public and familiar spaces near Vembanad Lake, welcoming readers, listeners, thinkers, and seekers. The second edition featured a vibrant mix of literature, talks and debates, stand-up comedy, crafts, culinary arts, theatre, music, dance, visual arts, photography, films, video art, performances, and a dedicated children’s pavilion.
