To whet your appetite, Robert Kahn was five years younger than Mahler and very much like a mirror image. He composed mostly chamber music and taught at the Prussian Academy of the Arts where he taught some of the 20th Century's greatest musicians before being being forced into exile. He outlived Mahler by more than 40 years.
