Slow orders and derailments were becoming more frequent due to poor trackage and passing sidings were being consolidated, which really began to impact operations. The D&H’s money-making Bethlehem Steel and Sea-Land “Landbridge” trains, would eventually go to Conrail, severely cutting revenue for the D&H.
