Overland Search and Rescue/Hike-Out Calls for Fire Departments
Introduction and continuing education for the Golden Gate Fire Department on backcountry calls, those involving some element of search and rescue away from the roadway. Intended as either continuing ed or new member material released as a part of COVID-related social distancing.Topics include: Basics of SAR operations, Equipment needed, Tactics and techniques to locate persons, Victim extrication, and supporting resources. Please note that this is specific to the Golden Gate FD's methods of operation, and that other agencies can use at their own risk. Please remember to consult and follow local SOG/SOPs and EMS protocols.
