After discovering that the Percha cable car was closed for renovations, we made the short drive to the valley station at Reischach and rode the modern gondola to the 2,275-meter (7,464-foot) summit. From the moment we left the valley, we were treated to breathtaking scenery—and an unexpected surprise. Paragliders seemed to be everywhere! We watched tandem pilots launch into the skies, soar effortlessly above the mountains, and learned why Kronplatz is one of Europe’s premier paragliding destinations. At the summit we explored the impressive Concordia 2000 Peace Bell, listened as it rang at high noon, admired the snow-covered Alps stretching to the horizon, visited the remarkable Messner Mountain Museum Corones, and enjoyed panoramic 360-degree views from one of South Tyrol’s most beautiful mountain peaks.
