Were Kouri's Kids Coached? Analyzing the Richins Boys' Victim Impact Statements

Statements quoted are from the public sentencing record. ------- When Kouri Richins was sentenced to life without parole for poisoning her husband Eric, three of her sons had victim impact statements read aloud in court — by three different therapists, in their own words. Her defense attorney told the judge: "I don't know why they're saying these things." Kouri herself said the boys had been "influenced." So were they coached? In this episode, we run the boys' statements through the actual legal standard for detecting coached child testimony — the framework that came out of State v. Michaels and the "taint hearing" precedent. Six forensic linguistic tests. Three brothers, ages 9, 11, and 13. One transcript. We look at why the 13-year-old left his template prompts visible on the page, how three independently-written statements converge without matching, what "stupid boyfriends" and "55 million times" tell us about authorship, and the four unedited grammatical errors that survived into open court.
