November 6 - Henry VIII abandons Catherine Howard

👻 6 November 1541 – The Haunted Fate of Catherine Howard 👻 On this day in Tudor history, Catherine Howard, Henry VIII’s fifth wife, was abandoned by her husband at Hampton Court Palace, never to see him again. Rumors swirled as the king dined “in the fields” and secretly returned to London, where he met with his council into the early hours. This ominous night would set Catherine’s tragic fate in motion. As claims of her past indiscretions emerged, her uncle, the Duke of Norfolk, and other council members informed her of the charges. Though Catherine denied them, the next day she would confess to Archbishop Cranmer, sealing her fate. According to legend, Catherine tried to run down Hampton Court’s gallery, hoping to speak to the king, only to be caught and led back in despair. This tragic story is said to be why a “ghostly form” with a look of horror haunts the gallery today. 🌫️ #CatherineHoward #TudorHistory #OnThisDay #GhostStories Book recommendations: "Young and Damned and Fair" by Gareth Russell; "The Remains of Thomas Cranmer, Archbishop of Canterbury", collected and arranged by Rev.
