【Punch-kun's Diary🐵】Since the zoo was closed on May 25th, please enjoy this video of Punch-kun. The 7th baby monkey had passed away (crying) - Ichikawa City Zoological and Botanical Garden This video was filmed on the afternoon of May 24th, 2026, so it's the most recent. I'm following the growth of Punch-kun at Ichikawa City Zoological and Botanical Garden. I go frequently, so I don't go to the front row; I film from the back. I watch Punch-kun through the gaps. Of course, when it's completely empty and there's no one there, I watch from the front row, but otherwise I watch from the back. I also watch from the back during feeding time. Punch-kun is a Japanese macaque born in July 2025. He started spending time in the monkey enclosure at Ichikawa City Zoological and Botanical Garden on January 19th, 2026. It seems Punch does have a mother, but due to it being her first birth and the summer heat, she abandoned her offspring... The zookeepers were raising Punch, who couldn't survive on his own, but they decided that raising him artificially indefinitely wouldn't be good for him, so they released him into the monkey enclosure at Ichikawa City Zoological and Botanical Garden on January 19, 2026, and are currently monitoring his progress. Initially, he was bullied by various older monkeys, but he persevered and his gradual growth is very inspiring and heartwarming. Also, the orangutan plush toy that Punch has (Orang-mama) is because Japanese macaques, like humans, are raised by their mothers, so they get stressed without a mother. They gave Punch an IKEA orangutan plush toy, and he started hugging it. In the past, when they gave him a Rilakkuma plush toy, he seemed to think it was his mother or a friend and hugged it. However, that monkey (Otome-chan) let go of the plush toy and became independent at around 1 year and 2 months old, so Punch might also let go of Orang-mama in a few months. By the way, Otome-chan is also in the same zoo!? Her adorable image of holding an orangutan plushie has resonated worldwide, making her incredibly popular. Let's all watch over Punch-kun together!
