From Forests to Darkness: The Palouse to Cascades Trail

2.3 Miles of DARKNESS! 🚴‍♂️ Riding the Palouse to Cascades Trail (Cedar Falls to Hyak). We took on the most iconic section of the Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail (formerly known as the John Wayne Pioneer Trail). This 22-mile steady climb takes you from the lush forests of Cedar Falls, over dizzying 200-foot trestles, and straight through the heart of a mountain via the incredible Snoqualmie Tunnel. Whether you’re a history buff curious about the electrified Milwaukee Road or a cyclist looking for the ultimate Washington rail-trail experience, this stretch has it all. Lights: You need a high-lumen bike light. It is pitch black! 2. Layers: Even if it’s 90°F outside, the tunnel stays around 45-50°F. Bring a jacket. 3.
