Welcome to Demo Thursday on Christian's Game Lab!    • DEMO   Today we're taking a first look at Gold Mining Simulator 2, the sequel to the popular gold rush simulator. And after just a few minutes, it's clear: many aspects have been improved. The graphics are impressive, the machines look more detailed, and the entire game world has a significantly more modern feel than in the first installment. We start at the very bottom of the career ladder. With a shovel, a gold pan, and plenty of manual labor, we try to extract the first gold nuggets from the ground. While this sounds simple at first, it quickly develops into an exciting building and economic simulation. Every gram of gold brings us closer to our goal of acquiring better equipment, bigger machines, and perhaps eventually even building our own gold mining empire. I was particularly impressed by the graphics. The landscapes look fantastic and immediately evoke the atmosphere of the gold rush. However, the game demands correspondingly powerful hardware. On my system, I already noticed some performance drops when a lot was being rendered simultaneously. Getting started is very easy thanks to the tutorial. Anyone who has already played the first game will feel right at home. New players are introduced to the most important mechanics step by step and can quickly celebrate their first successes. After this first hour, one impression remains above all: Gold Mining Simulator 2 has potential. The demo offers even more content, and therefore there will definitely be a second part next week.
