The Magnetic Resonator Piano: an electromagnetically augmented acoustic grand piano
The magnetic resonator piano (MRP) is a hybrid acoustic-electronic piano. It uses electromagnets to make the strings vibrate, producing infinite sustain, crescendos, pitch bends, harmonics and new timbres. It is played from the piano keyboard using the KeyScanner optical keyboard sensor which measures the continuous position of each of the keys. All sounds in this video are acoustic, produced by the piano strings and soundboard.
