Estimated 8 million pounds removed from Buxton beach
The Army Corps of Engineers has finally finished its recent emergency response in Buxton. For the past few years, old naval base infrastructure revealed by erosion shut down a stretch of their beach. Since starting extraction at around the fall 2025, Army Corps crews took out eight million pounds of concrete, rebar and other chunks from the old building, according to Brian Harris with the Buxton Civic Association.
