1993 Nissan Primera P10 2.0eGT Super Touring Car at Salzburgring: OnBoard & N/A SR20 Engine Sound!

The Primera you see in this video is chassis 008 and it was built by Janspeed in 1993. Janspeed was the company behind the Spa and Nürburgring 24h successes of the Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R Group N, purposely built and develped by the team for endurance racing. Building on their partnership with Nissan, Janspeed was awarded the works contract to build the Nissan Primera for the British Touring Car Championship starting in 1991 under the then new ''2 litre Touring Car Formula'' which would later become Super Touring, or Class 2, from 1993. In 1994 chassis 008 was driven by Luis Pérez-Sala at the Barcelona round of the 1994 Campeonato de España de Turismos and by Tomás Saldaña for the final race of the year. It remained in Spain for the next two years in the hands of Joan Vinyes and Joan Armadans. Super Touring, or Class 2, category was defined by the FIA for national touring car racing in 1993 and it was based on the "2 litre Touring Car Formula" created for the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) in 1990. Super Touring replaced Group A as the norm in nearly every touring car championship across the world, but escalating development engine and aerodynamic costs, and the withdrawal of works teams caused the category to collapse in the late 1990s. They were required to be a minimum of 4.20 metres in length, with four doors, effectively requiring a small family saloon car as a minimum. No more than 2 litres engine capacity, maximum of six cylinders were permitted, and the engine was required to be naturally aspirated. Super Touring formula was used in most national championships with different names: Super Tourenwagen Cup (shorten STW) in Germany, Campionato Italiano Superturismo in Italy, Championnat de France de Supertourisme, Australian Super Touring Championship and so on. It's no wonder it was the true Golden Era of touring car racing! Last October the car, now owned and managed by Sahl Engineering, was back to stretch its legs on the track during the 2025 Legends GP at the Salzburgring, in Austria. Listen to the high-revving 2.0-liter 4-cylinder SR20DE engine in action on track! #NissanPrimera #NissanPrimeraP10 #SuperTouring ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I have to thank my friends and youtubers ‪@Italiansupercarvideo‬ and ‪@NM2255‬ for the great collaboration done.
