2 FM Meter Getting On Air Programing FT991 ENC Encode Uplink Only Repeaters
This video demonstrates how repeaters work and how to program a FM repeater with an Uplink (ENC) tone only. We also cover how to configure the F1 - F4 quick access buttons for FM. There are two common ways to access repeaters, this video covers the ENC (Encode Only) which means the repeater uplink requires a tone "key" from you radio to unlock the repeater input and allow your signal to be re-broadcasted on a slightly different frequency. In this mode any stations can hear the repeaters downlink since it's not transmitting a tone it's referred to as "open squelch", meaning anyone can hear it. The F1-F4 quick access buttons on the FT991A are configurable, these buttons follow the mode for example I have my FM setup as "METER" "SQL" "RF POWER" "MCH"
