New rod bearings for the Mini R53

Troubling metal particles in the oil led me to suspect the rod bearings were on the way out. Flutter noise on start up. Short of buying an unknown 2nd hand motor, could the rod bearings be done in-car with inexpensive parts? 2003 Mini Cooper S - like all 2006-06 models. I expect similar for R50 Cooper and One. Parts: Must have: Rod bearing set - I used EngineTech BB1063 (BB1063STD) from RockAuto Rod bolts x 8 - Mini #11241485407 from Turners Motorsport or FCPEuro Plastigage - I used Mahl MPG1 0.01-0.03" from RockAuto Oil and filter - I used Hengst E31HD93 10 mm socket 6-sided, 1/2" drive - I used Milwaukee 45349111 from Repco Should have: Sump gasket - I used VICTOR REINZ 713478600 from RockAuto O-ring Oil pick up - I used Mahle B32646 from RockAuto Cheap oil for 1st flush Special tools that make this a lot easier: Auxiliary / Serpentine belt removal tool - might be part 118410 ( I don't have one) Torque angle gauge - I used B8800099 from Turner Motorsport This spec sheet gives tolerances for W11 motor http://wtxmc.org/MiniCooperDocs/ENGIN...
