TEDxPalermo - Sandro Sangiorgi - The Quality of Wine
The TEDxPalermo Talk by Sandro Sangiorgi was held in late evening of April30th. The location due to bad weather was changed at the very last minute with the studio427. His talk is about the quality of Wine and one's own sacred point of view as a distinguished critical mass. Sandro Sangiorgi was born in Fribourg, Switzerland. When he was 16 years , attended the first course of the Italian Sommelier Association, and he became a professional instructor in 1981. In the eighties he alternated the work in the family restaurant with the one on the radio where he hosted musical and food&wine broadcasts; then he was also sports reporter. As a sommelier, he achieved some successes in national and international competitions. In 1986 he founded the association Arcigola, later became Slow Food Movement; a few months later he was among the first cooperators of Gambero Rosso. In 1987 he contributed to the creation of the Guida ai vini d'Italia, for which he worked until 1999. In 1988 with Egidio Fedele Dell'Oste he carried out the educational project of Arcigola-Slow Food, of which is responsible from 1991 to 2000. In 2000 he founded the project Porthos, for which he curated the magazine and the educational activity. He is considered the most authoritative teacher of wine subject/issues and a real independent critic. He curated with Séverine Obertelli the Italian edition of the book by Nicolas Joly "Il vino tra cielo e terra", "Wine from Sky to Earth: Growing & Appreciating Biodynamic Wine published by Porthos. He follows cinema and poetry with great interest. In the spirit of "ideas worth spreading", TED has created a program called TEDx, of local events, organized independently, that bring people together to share an experience similar to the one you live with TED. The TED Conference provides general guidance for all the TEDx events, but local events are made independently.
