Texas Blue Giant Fig Tree Update | First Crop Growing Strong in Texas 🌱

My 5-year-old Texas Blue Giant fig is producing another strong crop here in San Antonio, Texas. In this video, I show how well the first figs are developing and talk about the upcoming main crop expected around June and July. This fig variety has handled Texas heat, freezing temperatures, storms, and weather swings extremely well in my backyard orchard. I originally got this cultivar from Fanick's Garden Center, and it’s become one of my favorite fig trees to grow. I’ve also successfully air layered this same tree multiple times, proving how easy figs can be to propagate with patience and the right technique. A lot of people don’t realize figs actually flower on the inside of the fruit in a structure called a syconium. Nature does some amazing things. Thanks for following along with my backyard gardening journey here in USDA Zones 8B/9A. #TexasBlueGiantFig #FigTree #GrowingFigs #TexasGardening #BackyardOrchard #AirLayering #PlantPropagation #FruitTrees #SanAntonioGardening #USDAZone8B #Zone9A #Gardening #Figs #GregsGarden
