Exploring Japanese Forest Trails on a KTM 250 EXC-F 【Ishigamizawa Forest Road】 For Saitama residents, the forest roads of Chichibu, especially the group of roads towards Yoshida, were the best area for hiking. There was a different kind of enjoyment compared to the Nakatsugawa Forest Road: the pleasure of "forest road hopping." Most of those forest roads have been closed, and the Ishigamizawa Line was one of the few remaining completely passable dirt roads. However, the wave of paving has also engulfed the Ishigamizawa Line, and since my last visit in 2022, it had been closed for a long period. "I guess it won't be passable until the entire road is paved," I thought to myself, but I still went to check on the barricades every year. After all, this area is perfect for hiking, so it wasn't a chore. Then, in March 2026, I called the administrative body that manages the road, just in case, and received a completely unexpected reply: "The restrictions have been lifted!" I went to check it out right away. The result was as you can see in the video: a subtle landscape with only a small unpaved section remaining. It's a shame that there's less dirt road, but it might be a nice accent for a stroll! The 2022 version of #143 was filmed in the downhill direction, but this 2026 version is a recording of the uphill direction.
