Maria Luce's first swim of the year. A retired teacher from Friuli, she moved to Agrigento three years ago, where she decided to make her home. She's lived between Lombardy and Friuli Venezia Giulia and has no Sicilian roots. "I chose to live here because it's the best place to be," she explained to us after taking a dip on the beach in San Leone. It's midday, the sun is shining, there's a light sea breeze, and the temperature is 14 degrees Celsius. "I swim all year round," she adds, "and I'm not the only one. Today the water is a little chilly, but still pleasant. If I had stayed up north, I'd be ailing at my age; here, however, I'm the envy of everyone."
