A family who lived in one of the most beautiful houses in the center of Nizhny Novgorod for 100 years was forcibly evicted today by bailiffs. The house on Studenaya Street was built in 1904; in 2014, it was declared unsafe and the residents were relocated, but the Suslov family continued to live there, as they were not satisfied with the proposed options. After the celebration of Nizhny Novgorod's 800th anniversary, the house was given the status of a protected site, "A.N. Sedov Estate. Main House with an Outbuilding and a Shop." Emergency prevention and restoration work were carried out on the house at the expense of the budget, and then, in 2025, the estate was converted into non-residential premises and sold to Moscow-based Vozrozhdenie LLC for 39.5 million rubles. Before this sale, Suslov transferred 5.9 million rubles as compensation for the foreclosed apartment. The general director of the Moscow company Vozrozhdenie claimed she had no idea anyone was living in the building before the purchase, and after the purchase, Vozrozhdenie began evicting the Suslovs. A Nizhny Novgorod court ruled in favor of the Moscow company, and today bailiffs came to evict Roman Suslov from the building where he, his parents, and his grandparents lived.
