Raja Rammohun Rai's father's name was Ramkanto Rai and his mother's name was Tarini Devi, who was a follower of the Vaishnava sect and Ramkanto Rai was a man of staunch Hindu religious instincts. Raja Rammohan Roy published the Brahmanical, Ved Mandir, Samvad Kaumudi, Mirat ul Newspaper, Bangdoot, etc. Papers in which Bangdoot was a letter which was published in Bengali, Hindi and Persian language.
