StoveTec FireFly Lantern - Burn Test #3 - 2'' Long Twigs - Check For Smoke

In the first two burn tests on the StoveTec FireFly Lantern I used wood pellets for fuel. It seems that a few people didn't like using wood pellets. The thought seems to be that the stove is useless if you can't use fuel that you can find along the trail. Several people tried using wood off the trail and the StoveTec FireFly Lantern smoked like it was going out of style. I thought the FireFly could be used with "trail wood" but not if you use the FireFly as a wood stove. It's a gasifier burner. The fuel has to be feed in differently to get it to wood smokeless. What I try in this video is using twigs cut about 2 inches long and stuffed into the fuel chamber in the upright position. And guess what? It worked. Yes, at around 8 minutes into the test you see a puff of smoke, but that was because a gust of wind blew out the flame. It re-lit itself right away and went on smokeless untill near the end of the video another gust blew out the flame but it didn't re-lit that time. I have an idea that might help prevent the flame being blown out in the future. After I shut off the camera I threw a lit match into the burner, the flame re-lit and went on burning for another 20 minutes. In the sped up part of the video you see me pointing at the latern chamber. That was when the flames started going up through the Lantern. If it had been dark out we would have seen the Lantern light up like it's suppose to. One of the bad things about using the twigs for fuel is that the load would not burn as long as a load of wood pellets would. I'll be trying hickory chips for the next test. I'm still impressed with the Lantern so far.
