Salkantay Trek(solo) até Machu Picchu / Expedição América do Sul / Ep8
We've been dreaming about this trek for a long time. We hiked for 6 days, covering about 90km in total, until we reached the Inca city of Machu Picchu. The trek isn't complicated to do independently. Every day you can sleep in villages, which reduces the weight of your backpacks as you don't need a tent. Food is also easy to find for all your meals along the way, except for the first day when there isn't as much support. So, your backpacks carry clothes and personal items, as well as medicine and safety gear, which keeps them from getting too heavy. We followed a route on Wikiloc only because we have an account and like to track how much we've walked and the time. However, the trail isn't difficult to follow, even in the low season the trail is quite busy and the path is well-marked (although there's no signage). There are several ways to do this trek. We chose to start from Soraypampa and go up to Humantay Lagoon on the first day because we hadn't been there before. It's possible to start from Mollepata to Soraypampa or shorten the route and start from Soraypampa to Chaullay on the first day. Another possible variation is on the third day, which could be as far as Santa Teresa or Lactapata. Furthermore, we decided to stay one extra day in Aguas Calientes to enjoy Machu Picchu at a more relaxed pace, as we didn't have any fixed dates to choose from. Our route was as follows: Day 1 - 7.5 km from Soraypampa to Laguna Humantay Day 2 - 21 km from Soraypampa to Colpapampa Day 3 - 31 km from Colpapampa to Santa Teresa Day 4 - 11 km (+10 km by car) from Santa Teresa to Aguas Calientes Day 5 - 11 km climb to Machu Picchu Day 6 - 10 km from Aguas Calientes to the hydroelectric plant At the end of the week, we spent 600 Soles (900 Reais) per person for those 6 days, not including the entrance fee for Route 3-A, which was 200 Soles (300 Reais). Was it worth it? Would you have the courage and stamina to do it? Thank you to everyone who watched, don't forget to like and leave your comment. See you next week!
