Today we’re leaving my father’s house and making our way across Denmark to Joen’s parents’ home, where we’ll be looking after their sweet dog, Gin. Before arriving, I wanted to show Joen one of my favorite places from my childhood—a beautiful forest I haven’t visited in years. Surrounded by peaceful lakes, towering trees and quiet paths, it reminded me just how magical Denmark can be in the summertime. We stop for coffee at the dreamiest little café hidden in the forest, wander through nature, and later spend the afternoon cooking a cozy homemade meal, relaxing in the garden, swimming in the sea with Lara and Gin, and ending the day with ice cream by the harbor. Even though this trip home began with sadness, I’m so grateful that life still gives us gentle moments like these. Sometimes healing isn’t found in big adventures. Sometimes it’s found in a quiet walk through the forest. A home-cooked meal. A swim in the ocean. An afternoon nap in the garden. Or simply spending time with the people—and dogs—you love. I hope this video can be a peaceful little escape for you and remind you to notice the beauty hidden inside ordinary days.
