LIFE-STUDY OF PHILIPPIANS Video 4: A Life Full of Forbearance but without Anxiety (5) The purpose of the Life-study of the Bible, as expressed by Witness Lee, is to present the truths contained in the Word, to minister the life supply, to solve the common and hard problems found in the Scriptures, and to open up every book of the Bible by giving a thorough interpretation of it. The messages in Life-study of Philippians were given by Witness Lee in Anaheim, California, in the summer of 1980. These videos in this playlist were spoken in Anaheim in January 1981 and were published as Messages 56—62 of Life-study of Philippians. “In [Philippians] 4:5 Paul says, ‘Let your forbearance be known to all men.’ In 2 Corinthians 10:1 he says, ‘I beseech you through the meekness and forbearance of Christ’ (lit.). The forbearance mentioned in 4:5 is not an ordinary forbearance or an ethical forbearance. It is the forbearance of Christ, a spiritual attribute or a virtue of Christ. This forbearance must become our forbearance, and then we should make our forbearance, the forbearance of Christ, known to all men. What is the meaning of forbearance, and why does Paul mention forbearance in 4:5 instead of some other virtue?” (Witness Lee, Life-study of Philippians, p. 490).
