Wetenschappelijk onderzoek met Max Reijers

Can we rule out a pulmonary embolism faster and smarter? Max Reijers, a PhD candidate and physician-researcher in Internal Medicine, is investigating this. He is looking into whether artificial intelligence (AI) and blood tests can help to better predict whether someone has a pulmonary embolism. A pulmonary embolism is a blood clot in the lungs. Currently, many patients still undergo a CT scan. Afterwards, it often turns out that they do not have a pulmonary embolism. Such a scan takes time and involves radiation. Patients also sometimes have to wait longer. If we can better predict who does or does not have a pulmonary embolism, fewer CT scans might be needed. That is less burdensome for patients. It also helps to shorten waiting times and organize care more intelligently. Max is one of four researchers at Tergooi MC who have been awarded a scientific grant. His research stems directly from our daily care practice. This is how we work at Tergooi MC to provide better care for our patients. Want to know more about scientific research at Tergooi MC?
