Das magische Band (Werbefilm BASF, 1959)

"The Magic Tape" was a promotional film produced by BASF in Ludwigshafen to advertise their then-new and relatively unknown product, "audio tape," worldwide. Some viewers will certainly find this film quite "quirky." Others will recognize the enormous creativity—especially for its time—in its production. With the editing and special effects techniques used, the filmmakers were way ahead of their time almost 70 years ago! Directed by Ferdinand Khittl, with cinematography by Ronald Martini and music by Oskar Sala and Hans Posegga, the promotional film won numerous awards! These included the German Film Award in 1960, two Silver Film Ribbons, the "Best Short Cultural Film" award at the 1959 German Industrial Film Days, and four first prizes at the 1959 International Industrial Festival. #BASF #AudioTape #1959 #Retro #IndustrialFilm
