American Eagle POV Red Side - Six Flags Great America Wooden Roller Coaster - May 2026 - No Racing

Marcus Leshock takes a ride on the American Eagle wooden roller coaster at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, Illinois. American Eagle opened in 1981 as the biggest wooden roller coaster in the world. The ride features two separate trains that would race each other - a blue side and a ride side - but the ride hasn't raced in nearly a decade. Soon after I rode the coaster back in May of 2026, the park announced that the Eagle would be racing again later in the summer. I will have an updated video when that finally happens!
