Confronting internal displacement
War, armed conflicts, and disasters inflict substantial costs upon civilians, compelling them to flee their residences to survive. This situation necessitates attention from the governments of all nations, as it is their duty to protect and ensure the livelihoods of their citizens. These people are known as Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). However, some nations fail to implement adequate measures to assist them. This raises crucial questions: what should a government do when faced with this issue? How can the world support affected nations to ensure everyone can live in sufficiency? On this episode, Podcast Hubungan Internasional invites you to discuss IDP with Cecilia Jimenez-Damary, a Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Internally Displaced Persons; and Daniel Petz, a visiting lecturer to DIHI from the University of Graz. #IDP #displaced #climate #disaster #armedconflict #hiugm #ugm =================================================================== 📌 YouTube http://ugm.id/PodcastHI92Youtube 📌 Spotify http://ugm.id/PodcastHI92Spotify 📌 Apple Podcast http://ugm.id/PodcastHI92Apple 📌 Anchor http://ugm.id/PodcastHI92Anchor 📌 Playlist Podcast HI https://ugm.id/PodcastHI =================================================================== 0:00 - Opening 01:24 - Introduction 02:40 - Who are IDPs? 02:55 - UN Special Rapporteur 03:26 - Framework to protect IDPs 06:36 - Inter-Agency Standing Committee 08:59 - Examples 10:49 - Transitional Justice 12:06 - Disaster-induced displacement 14:12 - Development-induced displacement 16:59 - Cooperation between UN Special Rapporteurs 17:48 - IDP in Indonesia 19:15 - Regional engagement on climate change 21:28 - Hopes in us 22:31 - Closing =================================================================== MUSIC: Novri Karyadi
