The Beatles TELL ME WHY - 2026 Remix | New Vocal Clarity With An Added Punch Of Excitement!
‘Tell Me Why’ is The Beatles in full vocal flight — sharp, urgent, and stacked with the kind of harmony power that helped define their early sound. Written quickly by John Lennon to add another upbeat, energetic track to A Hard Day’s Night, the song bursts forward with the kind of youthful urgency The Beatles could deliver so naturally in 1964. This 2026 remix opens up those powerful vocals, spreading John, Paul, and George further across the stereo soundstage with new clarity and separation. In the original stereo mix, their voices were locked together in the center channel; here, the harmonies are given more space to breathe while still keeping the spirit of the original performance intact. The foundation of the track has also been given a new kick by moving Paul’s bass and Ringo’s drums to the center. In the original stereo mix, both were placed only in the left channel, creating an unbalanced foundation for such a driving performance. Centering the rhythm section gives the song a stronger anchor and lets Paul and Ringo push the track forward with more impact. The guitars and piano remain in their outer positions, just as they were placed in the original stereo mix, preserving the feel of the original while giving the recording a more balanced presentation. The Beatles recorded ‘Tell Me Why’ in eight takes in Studio Two at EMI Studios on February 27, 1964. Take 8 was the keeper, and it was mixed to mono on March 3rd and later mixed to stereo on June 22nd. John played his Gibson Jumbo acoustic-electric guitar, George played his Gretsch Country Gentleman, and George Martin added piano, except during the bridge. ‘Tell Me Why’ became the sixth track on side one of Parlophone’s British A Hard Day’s Night album, released on July 10, 1964. In the American market, the song appeared on two albums: United Artists’ A Hard Day’s Night soundtrack, released on June 26, and Capitol’s Something New, released on July 20. There is also a special bonus in this video version of the remix. The live A Hard Day’s Night performance of 'Tell Me Why' used for this video was not originally complete in the film. Just after Ringo’s middle drum break, the sequence quickly moved into ‘If I Fell.’ With careful editing, I have created a complete A Hard Day’s Night performance of ‘Tell Me Why,’ now enhanced with this 2026 audio remix. For me, it was always a disappointment that most of the songs in the film’s final concert sequence were not shown in full, so this is my way of presenting the performance as I always wished it had appeared. Thank you for listening — and watching!
