The Wander Society: An anti-consumerist book for curious creatives
A quick summary of The Wander Society by Keri Smith (2016). I discuss the core tenets of the book and how it can be used to both bolster creativity and teach you to be more present. If nothing else, it’s a great book friend for sensitive souls struggling with the crushing weight of the attention economy. While this book's content isn't explicitly anticapitalist, it inspires me to make art for art's sake and not simply for profit or to feed the algorithm of a rich person's app. As I make my living as a self-employed artist, it's very easy to lose sight of WHY I make art when I also exist in an exploitative hustle culture that if I don't perform, I don't get paid. This book reminds me to keep something just for me. 🌿 To support me elsewhere, check out the following links: Website & Portfolio: https://www.shapelessflame.com Newsletter: https://nataliekovacs.substack.com/ Shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/theshapeles...
