Zwift Cheaters Leave Evidence… Here’s How to Find It

Sticky watts can give Zwift racers power they are not actually producing, BUT they also leave evidence behind. While watching a Zwift race, I noticed one rider’s Tron bike repeatedly lighting up and going dim: a visual pattern commonly associated with sticky watts. After the race, I analysed the rider’s public FIT file using the ZwiftPower ZRS browser extension. The result was classified as "severe sticky watts", with the analyser estimating that approximately 28.5% of the rider’s total output may have come from them. To show how large the advantage can be, I also completed a controlled, non-competitive demonstration using two separate power recordings. During normal riding, the two sources were almost identical. Once I deliberately used the accelerate-and-stop pattern, Zwift recorded 203W, while the trainer recorded 137.5W, a difference of 65.5W, that almost 48%!!! The analyser cannot determine a rider’s intent, and one unusual result should not trigger a public pile-on. Suspicious files should be submitted privately to the relevant race organiser or team for proper review.
